IVAN KLASNIĆ – A FAMOUS FOOTBALL VETERAN

Ivan Klasnić is a former Croatian professional footballer who played as a striker. He is also a dear member of the DrLuigi family and one of many athletes who have chosen our brand. Ivan knows that our medical footwear is the best choice when it comes to healthy feet and comfortable footwear.

He started his career at his hometown club FC St. Pauli and moved to Werder Bremen in 2001 after helping his previous club to promotion to the Bundesliga. With Werder Bremen, he scored 49 league goals in 151 games and won both the championship and the cup in 2004. After a season in France with Nantes, he moved to English Premier League club Bolton Wanderers in 2009, initially on loan. After their relegation in 2012, he returned to Germany for a season with Mainz.

Klasnić also played for the Croatian national team – he played 41 games and scored 12 goals. In 2007, Klasnić underwent a kidney transplant and became the first player to participate in a major tournament (UEFA Euro 2008) after a transplant. He also represented Croatia at UEFA Euro 2004 and the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

He ended his football career nine years ago. However, he is now in good health and is playing again at amateur level. He lives in his hometown of Hamburg and is a coach at a Croatian club.
